SEVERAL TOP OFFICIALS AT STATE RADIO ON ASSET DECLARATION NON-COMPLIANCE LIST

Date:

MONROVIA – Four out of six top officials at state radio, the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS), are listed among exiting officials of the Government of Liberia (GoL), who are non-compliant with the exit asset declaration process.

The Exit Asset Declaration process ended officially on 12 December last year. However, the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), in its second batch of GoL officials, who have either complied or not, published yesterday, listed four top members of the LBS management team among several others from various government entities as being non-compliant.

Aside from Managing Director, Mrs. Estelle Liberity-Kemoh, and her deputy for operations and technical services, Mr. Tepenty A. Young, all other top-ranking members at the state broadcaster are yet to comply with the exit asset declaration process that is legally mandatory, as per Section 10.1 of Liberia’s amended 2014 Code of Conduct on the declaration of Assets and Personal Interest.

Those at the LBS who are non-compliant with the process of Exit Declarations include, Mrs. Tetee Fukah Jebro, Deputy Managing Director for Administration; and Mr. Jallah Grayfield, Deputy Managing Director for Public Service.

The rest are: Mr. Sorber George, Deputy Managing Director for Media Services; and Mr. Isaac Garyeazon Redd, Sr., Deputy Managing Director for Rual Broadcasting.

Meanwhile, the LACC has threatened the imposition of various forms of sanctions on non-compliant exiting officials of the GoL.

Non-complaint exiting officials risk sanctions ranging from withholding of compensation, including salaries and other bonuses; no further appointment to government posts; to refusal or denial of government services, such as business registration, tax clearance, passport renewal, national ID card renewal, and among other Liberian government-provided services, according to the LACC.

Under Liberian law, an Act of 2022 of the Legislature delegates to the LACC the responsibility of executing Liberia’s Asset Declaration and Verification Regime, including the authority for the Commission to recommend to the Legislature for enactment into law sanction(s) for breach of Asset Declaration.
