AFL INVESTIGATES ALLEGED BEATING OF JEREMIAH BEYAN BY SOLDIERS IN LOFA COUNTY

Date:

LOFA COUNTY, LIBERIA – The High Command of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) has launched an investigation into disturbing reports that AFL personnel brutally beat 22-year-old Jeremiah Beyan on May 13, 2024, in Lofa County.

According to reports, the incident occurred after Pastor Kevin Morris of the Harvest Fellowship Church in Voinjama accused Beyan of stealing the church keyboard and reported him to AFL soldiers. The soldiers allegedly responded by severely beating Beyan.

In an official press release issued today, the AFL expressed deep concern over the incident and condemned the actions of the involved personnel. “The High Command has assumed control of the matter, with a preliminary investigation currently underway by the 23rd Infantry Brigade,” the statement read.

The AFL emphasized its commitment to justice and support for Beyan and his family during this difficult time. The organization assured the public that if any personnel are found guilty of misconduct, they will face appropriate legal consequences.

The AFL reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for any form of misconduct or abuse of power, underscoring its dedication to upholding discipline, professionalism, and the rule of law within its ranks. “We remain resolute in our commitment to combating impunity and fostering a culture of accountability,” the statement declared.

The AFL pledged to maintain transparency and accountability throughout the investigation process and promised to provide updates as the investigation progresses.
