MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Eddie D. Jarwolo, Executive Director of NAYMOTE-Liberia, has called on President Joseph Boakai to provide transparency regarding the procurement of 285 earth-moving equipment by his administration. In a social media post today, Jarwolo emphasized the President’s accountability to the Liberian people and urged him to disclose the source of funding for the equipment and the details of the procurement process.
“In a democracy, as the President, you are accountable to the people of Liberia,” Jarwolo stated. He pressed President Boakai to speak out about the earth-moving machines discussed during the recent cabinet retreat and to clarify the entire procurement procedures.
“Mr. President, it is time to speak and disclose the source of funding for the 285 units of earth-moving machines spoken about during the cabinet retreat and the entire procurement procedures. Mr. President, you should by now also publish your assets. Lead by example and walk the talk!” Jarwolo urged.
The procurement, which was announced at the three-day Cabinet Retreat held at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Monrovia, has sparked significant public debate and calls for transparency. Critics have questioned the source of funding and the integrity of the procurement process, with concerns heightened due to the involvement of South African millionaire Robert Gumede, who has a controversial reputation.
