LIBERIA – The campaign in the Bye-election in Lofa County ends today Sunday as candidates from different parties comb villages and towns to woe voters.
Two candidates are said to be moving neck to neck in the race; CDC reinforced Cllr. Joseph Jallah; an Independent and Unity Party’s Galagbai Kortimai are said to be the major contenders for the seat.
Unity Party Standard Bearer Joseph Boakai early this week moved into the county hugely accompanied by party stewards to give momentum to their candidate, while Cllr. Jallah, supported by the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change is being joined and accompanied on his campaign by top ruling party executives in a last-minute push for the seat.
There are other candidates in the race which makes the election even more interesting and harder, according to political analysts.
Any of the candidates can win by a simple majority.
As it stands, it is difficult to say who will win, but if the Brownie Samukai factor is anything to go by, it could push the Unity Party candidate Kortimai into the lead because according to our correspondent in the county, he’s been campaigning with Boakai and Samukai by his side.
