EUGENE NAGBE CONFIRMS DENIAL OF VIP LOUNGE USE TO FORMER PRESIDENT WEAH BY UP GOVERNMENT

Date:

MONROVIA – In a recent radio interview, former Maritime Commissioner Eugene Nagbe revealed that the Unity Party (UP) government denied former President George Weah access to the Clara Marie Weah VIP Lounge at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) for the second time.

Nagbe disclosed that two weeks ago, former President Weah notified the Liberian government about an invitation to a diplomatic meeting in Accra, Ghana. The arrangements included the use of a private jet for the trip. On the morning of the scheduled departure, Executive Protection Service (EPS) officers were deployed at the airport by 7 AM to ensure smooth facilitation of the former President’s journey.

However, upon Weah’s arrival, his team found the Presidential Lounge locked. This unexpected situation prevented them from accessing the lounge. “To avoid any further embarrassment,” Nagbe explained, “we advised former President Weah and his team to proceed to the regular terminal for security checks.”

This incident marks the second time that the former President has been denied use of the VIP lounge, raising concerns and questions about the motivations behind the government’s actions.
