HOUSE INITIATES INVESTIGATION INTO REP. KOLUBAH’S INSULTING OUTBURST DIRECTED AT PRESIDENT BOAKAI

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Following Montserrado County District 10 Rep. Yekeh Kolubah’s recent disrespectful remarks towards President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, the House of Representatives has launched an investigation into Hon. Kolubah’s behavior, prompted by allegations made during a live Facebook broadcast against the President and his family.

The House of Representatives took action after receiving a communication from Kolubah’s colleague, Mr. Emmanuel Dahn, representing Montserrado Electoral District #7, on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

Mr. Dahn raised concerns about a serious matter regarding the integrity and decorum of the House, prompted by Kolubah’s derogatory comments directed at the President and his family during a recent media appearance.

Kolubah has a history of verbally attacking sitting presidents, including President Boakai and his predecessor, Mr. George Manneh Weah. This latest incident is not an isolated one.

According to Mr. Dahn, on Sunday, April 7, 2024, Rep. Kolubah made a series of unsubstantiated allegations against the President and his family in a live Facebook broadcast. Dahn emphasized that while the allegations were troubling, Kolubah’s manner and form of presenting them were in clear violation of the House’s Rules and Procedures.

Quoting relevant rules, Dahn highlighted Rule 40.1, which emphasizes honesty and transparency among members, and Rule 40.2, which prohibits the dissemination of false or unsubstantiated information. He also pointed out Rule 42.1, which requires members to uphold the prestige and dignity of the House at all times.

Given the severity of Kolubah’s actions and the damage they have caused to the House’s reputation, Dahn recommended that the House leadership take immediate action by conducting an investigation into the matter. He also suggested that appropriate disciplinary measures be instituted in accordance with Rule 48.1.
