LIBERIA’S FINANCE MINSTER SAMUEL TWEAH RESIGNS BUT…

Date:

MONROVIA – A highly placed source has disclosed to Smart News Liberia that Minister of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), Samuel D. Tweah, Jr., has submitted his letter of resignation to President George Manneh Weah. Tweah’s resignation, according to the source, is triggered by the recently released Press Statement from U.S. Embassy in Monrovia which exposed the Minister’s failed performance and other related corruption allegations.

Also, the source stated that Minister Tweah has been hinted that his name is on the soon-to-be-released second U.S. sanction list for corrupt public officials for which the Minister wants to leave the Weah administration but, his letter has been rejected by the President.

The source also stated further that Tweah’s situation has gotten high-ranking members of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) in worry; and the party’s future as October 10, 2023, legislative and presidential elections draw closure… Details to follow…
