LIBERIA’S FIRST CITIZEN, PRES. GEORGE WEAH WILL NOT BE COUNTED IN NATIONAL CENSUS

Date:

Liberia’s President, Dr. George Weah, and his official delegation will not be counted in tomorrow’s national census because they are out of the country.

Pres. Weah by Proclamation, declared Friday, November 11, 2022, as National Census Day. As the First Citizen of Liberia, he will definitely not fulfill a very serious national duty to be counted as a citizen of Liberia.

Under the census law, people to be enumerated during the 2022 national population and housing census are all persons who spent the census night in a household in Liberia; all persons who spent the census night in institutions (group quarters), and all persons who were in transit in Liberia (floating population) on census night.

Because President George Weah and his delegation are out of the country, they will not be enumerated during the census.

George Weah will make a terrible piece of history, to become the first sitting leader of Liberia to miss the census, according to historians. They say the census is a national duty that must be fulfilled by the first citizen and all other citizens residing in the country.

Historians say there is no justification for the Liberian president missing the census after declaring a national holiday to observe the event.

The making Proclamation on the national census, President Weah called on all ministries and agencies of government, enterprises (Large or small), the patriotism and loyalty of every citizen, and the goodwill of every foreign national as well as local government officials to assist the census authorities in explaining, influencing, and endorsing the participation of everybody in the massive, national undertaking, given the advantages and usefulness of the Census to the overall national socio-economic development of the country.

The Proclamation further mentioned that the census shall be conducted and directed by the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS) in the most expeditious manner, but its success shall be dependent upon the total involvement of all citizens and foreign residents within the borders as well as all Liberian citizens residing abroad to mobilize the resources and administrative machinery necessary for the implementation and execution of this project.
