MEDICAL REPORT DETAILS INJURIES OF MOMO DAVID IN RESPONSE TO COURT ORDER

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – A medical report released by ELWA Hospital on February 19, 2025, has provided detailed information on the injuries sustained by Momo David following a fire accident in January. The report, signed by Dr. Juvenal Musavuli Maghuta, Consultant Surgeon in the Department of General Surgery, was submitted in response to a Writ of Subpoena Duces Tecum, which was served to the hospital by the Monrovia Magisterial Court.

According to the report, Momo David was admitted to the hospital on January 17, 2025, with partial thickness thermal burns covering approximately 23% of his body. The injuries, which were believed to have been caused by fire, affected his face, neck, upper limbs, and torso. The burn injuries were described as partial thickness in nature, and the report noted that the incident occurred approximately 24 hours prior to his arrival at the hospital.

Upon arrival at ELWA Hospital at 11:41 PM on January 17, David was immediately administered medical care, including tetanus anti-toxin, fluids for resuscitation, and pain management. The report further stated that David underwent regular dressing care in the operating room and received medicine to prevent infection during his 14-day stay at the facility.

David was discharged on February 1, 2025, after showing signs of good healing. The report indicated that the full impact of the burn injuries, particularly the scarring, would be assessed in the coming months to determine whether the damage would be classified as permanent or temporary.

The medical report was issued in compliance with a Writ of Subpoena Duces Tecum, signed by Associate Magistrate Cllr. Andrew N. Bropleh on February 17, 2025. The subpoena, which ordered the hospital to provide medical records of Momo David, demanded information on the number of days he spent at the facility, the type of wounds he sustained, and the cause of those injuries. The documents were required to be submitted to the Monrovia Magisterial Court by February 21, 2025.

Failure to comply with the subpoena could result in charges of contempt of court, with the hospital’s management facing legal action if they do not provide the requested documents. The legal action is part of ongoing proceedings related to the circumstances of David’s injuries and any associated legal matters.
