THE CLASH OF TITAN – LEWIS BROWNE VS JEFFERSON KOIJEE OVER PENDING DECEMBER 17 ‘WE TIYAH SUFFERING’ RALLY

Date:

“I dare Koijee! Surely, enough is enough! Why should a bunch of mad men led by Jefferson Koijee continue to parade the city consumed by filth and mounting rubbish that he cannot clean up but would rather take on a vigilante task?”, said opposition Alternative National Congress (ANC) lead campaigner Lewis G. Browne.

If Koijee and his band of thieves are doing just fine, Liberians are experiencing undue hardship at the hands of a rogue regime, the former Liberian foreign minister was speaking in reaction to city major Jefferson’s accusation that he (Browne) was planning and wanting to spread chaos in the country for a pending national rally which Browne says is intended to call the attention of the George Weah Government to the suffering of the Liberian masses.

Browne notes that the rally is under the auspices of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), a coalition of political parties in the country.

He said it seeks to enable the people to voice their frustration and disquiet that the country is dogged by bad governance.

Browne indicates that “while piles of dirt and stench take over Monrovia, a faceless Monrovia mayor is seen visiting the Borough of New Kru Town – not on a clean-up campaign but to show the strength of banditry and lawlessness in the midst of extreme poverty.”

The Monrovia City Mayor had accused Browne of trying to cause chaos in the country by his planned rally; and vowed not to allow the rally ever take place.

But Lewis Browne said in reaction to Koijee: “Tell that little boy, there will be a rally, a peaceful rally on December 17 and he has no capacity to threaten anyone or disrupt it. I dare him.”

Ambassador Lewis Browne is a former Liberian Ambassador to the United Nations and former foreign minister. Presently he is the chairperson of Team Alexander Cummings presidential campaign.

Koijee had informed newsmen in Monrovia that the December 17 rally will not be peaceful and allegedly meant to undermine the peace of the country.

He warned the former Information Minister that gone are days that Mr. Browne and his cohorts used those tactics to cause conflict in the country.

Koijee stated that Liberians are not prepared to go back to the dark days of the war. He said CDC maintained the peace of the country when it was in opposition and called on the ANC to do likewise.

But Browne also warned the CDC that what it did to peaceful students from the University of Liberia will not happen this time.

You can call it all kinds of names, but we will move across the streets of Monrovia and gather at outside of the SKD stadium and speak loudly and clearly for Koijee and others to hear because they have been deaf too long, according to Ambassador Lewis Browne.

Browne said he does not need a “little Koijee” to tell him how to organize a peaceful rally. He points out that “little Koiljee” has no pedigree, experience, and capacity to tell anyone how to do rallies.

Browne states that the ruling CDC is trying to be deceptive by spreading fear in the suffering masses.

He added that Mayor Koijee must look at his very bodyguards that he walks with. He said they are tired of suffering and that they would be at the rally if they are not afraid.

Browne versus Koijee is going to be a clash of the titans-the Greek mythology of the primordial giant gods who ruled the earth until overthrown by Zeus.

The ruling CDC has not faced a real political challenge by the opposition, said a Liberian political watcher. He said because the opposition has not held the government’s feet to the fire, that is why President Weah is out of the country for almost two months using taxpayers’ monies, said the political watcher.

One writer, Akena Wesley asked if the December 17′ rally will fold.

He said the events and circumstances of the coming days will surely manifest the plausibility or possibility.

Wesley questions why shouldn’t the CDC tolerate protest – when it formed the beam of their discomfort while in opposition.

Wesley added if it was the CDC’s right to protest yesterday, why shouldn’t others exercise a similar constitutional prerogative as it were?
