“YOU ARE THE SHINING STARS OF LIBERIA”- FIRST LADY TELLS 48 SERVICE AWARD RECIPIENTS

Date:

MONROVIA – First Lady Kartumu Yarta Boakai has emphasized the importance of selfless service and dedication as critical to driving positive change and impacting lives across communities and the nation.

Mrs. Boakai described commitment to service as not only genuinely commendable but also inspirational, praising some 48 outstanding individuals who were awarded the International Service Award (ISA) for their impactful service to humanity at the Effort Baptist Church in Paynesville on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

“Tonight, we pay tribute to you, our deserving citizens of Liberia, and we thank you for our tireless efforts, your unwavering dedication, and your enduring commitment to service,” Mrs. Boakai said, noting that the recognition of those who selflessly serve their communities, led by example, and inspire others was essential.

“You are shining stars of Liberia, the pillars of our society and driving force behind positive change in our communities,” the First Lady asserted with deep gratitude to the honorees for the immense contributions each of them has made in their respective communities through service.

The International Service Award ceremony, hosted by the Office of the First Lady in collaboration with the A. M. Kyne Collegiate Resource Center was not only to honor outstanding individuals but also to amplify the power of individuals to inspire and make a positive impact.

Forty-eight individuals, dubbed as frontlines from all walks of life, including journalists, activists, and integrity icons, among others, were thoroughly vetted to qualify for the award.

“Tonight, as we gather to celebrate your remarkable achievements, I am reminded of the immense power of individuals to make a difference, to uplift those around them, and to create a better future for all. You’re the embodiment of hope, resilience, and compassion. You are true heroes of our nation.”

Speaking earlier, the head of the A. M. Kyne Collegiate Resource Center, Dr. Kyne thanked the office of the First Lady for supporting the program, which transcends pageantries of honoring but also amplifies the appreciation for those at the forefront of making a difference.

He hailed Dr. Mitchelle and her entourage for making Liberia a place of priority and doing everything to lift Liberians from poverty and low self-esteem. The Mission Liberia 2.0 was the second humanitarian visit of Ambassador Dr. Mitchelle Richards and her team to Liberia since the launch of their mission visit in 2023.
