BOAKAI HOPES FOR BETTER FUTURE FOR LIBERIAN YOUTH

Date:

MONROVIA – Former Vice President, Ambassador Joseph N. Boakai, Sr., has expressed hope for a better future for Liberian youth.

Speaking today at an acquaintance luncheon, in his capacity as former president of the Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) of Liberia, the ex-Vice President, having called for the observance of a minute of silence for all those now deceased but served the organization well while alive, he highlighted the numerous achievements of the YMCA in Liberia over the years.

He then pointed out that he’s of the hope that more can be done for the young people of Liberia.

The current Board Chair of the YMCA in Liberia, former Public Works Minister, Atty. Samuel Kofi Woods, who hosted the acquaintance luncheon at a local hotel in Monrovia, for his part, informed members of the Board about actions he has taken so far, and asked for their input in getting the organization fully operational once more.

Atty. Woods expressed delight over the presence of YMCA former president, ex-Vice president Boakai, with the current YMCA Board chair stating that he was honored by the presence of past president Boakai, who he said took time off his basic schedule to have been in attendance at the attendance luncheon.

He told those in attendance at the luncheon that he looks forward to knowing more about the workings of the YMCA.

Former members of the YMCA Board including Messrs. Lester M. Paye, Jonathan Mason, and Kenneth Y. Best, were in attendance.

Also in attendance at the luncheon were current officials of the YMCA National Board, who included Messrs. E. Edward Gboe, Yormie Cooper, and Ebenezer Saah Davies respectively.
