BISHOP BROWN: IN A LONG TIME, WE HAVEN’T SEEN THIS LEVEL OF RESPONSE TO ANY DEMOCRATIC EVENT LIKE WE SAW ON ELECTION DAY

Date:

Bishop Brown: “October 10 has mobilized Liberians. In a long time, we have not seen this level of response to any democratic event like we saw on Tuesday, October 10 when the people went to the polls to vote for President, Senators, and Representatives. It was a “wonderful and God-blessed day. The weather was good; the voters’ turnout was exceptional and the environment was peaceful. We sincerely congratulate the people of Liberia for making our country proud.”

MONROVIA – Bishop Brown, who has been directing the Concerned Christian Community (CCC) – OMNIA Institute for Contextual Leadership – based in Chicago, Illinois, elections intervention initiative, expressed profound gratitude to Almighty God for His intervention in the election process leading to the day passing without any major disruption or violence except for the natural disruption in some voting precincts in Sinoe and Rivercess Counties caused by excessive rains and flooding as reported by the NEC on Tuesday, October 10 during their press briefing.

“Whatever the outcome, Liberians have already scored a major victory. Their exceptional performance and conduct on the day of the election is a remarkable and responsible vote for peace, security, stability and democracy”, the general overseer of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church International said while commending members of the CCC observers’ team returning from the field with their initial observations, urging Liberians to celebrate their vote and conduct on October 10. The National Elections Commission – NEC accredited about 71 of the 100 applicants from the CCC for election monitoring.

He urged Liberians to remain peaceful and resolute as the results are being processed and announced by the NEC and to continue to commit to the country’s aspirations to consolidate her democratic credentials.

CCC and OMNIA have also been airing messages from young people calling on other young people to avoid electoral violence. The message has been played on several radio stations in western, central, northern, southern and eastern Liberia. The video is also placed on TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and other media outlets.

  1. Bishop Browne, you can only correctly say that Liberians have won a “victory” in their electoral process, if the NEC comes out with the correct and accurate results that reflect the will of the people. Nothing more, nothing less. What will be the purpose of elections or participating in them if the outcome does not accurately and transparently reflect the votes cast by the citizens! So Bishop, check on what you say about these very serious elections in order to avoid confusing the people.
