AMARA KONNEH URGES CIVIL SERVANTS TO REMAIN PROFESSIONAL AHEAD OF BOAKAI’S INAUGURATION

Date:

MONROVIA – Amid unconfirmed reports that several government ministries and agencies are allegedly being looted and in some instances, operational monies for these institutions are being allegedly withdrawn from banks for personal reasons by unnamed officials, Gbarpolu County Senator-elect and Unity Party’s former National Campaign Coordinator for the recently concluded presidential runoff election, Amara Konneh, has urged civil servants to continue to comport themselves as the professional workforce they are.

Konneh reminded civil servants currently in the employ of the Government of Liberia (GoL) that they are members of the professional arm of the public sector, describing them as the first servants of the Liberian society.

He informed the civil servants that on their shoulders lies the responsibility of what he referred to as the present and future of the country, admonishing that they remain professional during the transitional period leading to the inauguration of President-elect Joseph N. Boakai (JNB) early next year.

Boakai is in an unassailable lead; as the National Elections Commission is poised to on today, announce the final results of the 14 November presidential runoff election. Incumbent President George Weah has already conceded defeat and has since congratulated JNB, hailing him for his victory.

Konneh, who called on the civil servants to put Liberia first, is of the belief that if Liberians continue in the path of doing things in the same manners they have always done, they will go on getting what they’ve always got, emphasizing that now was the time citizens of the country changed their way of doing things.

Success and a healthy economy, according to Konneh, are no accident, praying that God gives Liberians the courage to put their country first.
