MONROVIA – In a momentous ceremony marking the official launch of the Language Center, the Department of English and Language at Amos C. Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Liberia, bestowed a prestigious honor on Dean Dr. Josephus Moses Gray. The event was part of the activities celebrating the institution’s 104th Commencement Convocation.
The chairperson, faculty, staff, and students of the department collectively honored Dr. Gray with a distinguished award, which included a ceremonial gowning. The recognition highlighted Dr. Gray’s contributions to academia and leadership at the University of Liberia (UL).
Speaking at the event, Dr. Gray expressed his gratitude, stating, “I’m extremely grateful to be honored today at UL. I’m so excited to be recognized with this distinguished award and gowned by the Chairperson, faculty, staff, and students of the Department of English and Language.”
The ceremony was graced by several key figures within the university. Among the attendees were the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Agnes Reeves-Taylor, and the Vice President for Administration, Mrs. Benetta Joko Tarr. Other notable figures included Human Resources Director Ms. Garmai Wilson, Chairpersons of the Departments of Political Science, Social Science, and Sociology—Assistant Prof. Richard Anderson, Assistant Prof. Dr. Kerkula Foeday, and Mr. Hassan Telema—along with Cllr. Mark Bedor-Wla Freeman.
This honor highlights the significant role Dr. Gray has played in advancing the intellectual and cultural development of the University of Liberia. The launch of the Language Center serves as a testament to his commitment to academic excellence and his lasting impact on both faculty and students.
