LACC BEGINS INSTALLATION OF WHISTLEBLOWER BOXES AT KEY GOVERNMENT INSTITUTIONS

MONROVIA – The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), through its Education and Prevention Department, has launched the installation of Whistleblower Boxes across several ministries, agencies, and commissions in a new effort to strengthen the fight against corruption.

The initiative, which officially began on Friday, August 15, 2025, seeks to create a safe, confidential, and accessible means for public servants and citizens to report corruption, fraud, abuse of office, and other forms of misconduct.

Phase One of the rollout covers the Civil Service Agency (CSA), the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, as well as the Liberia National Police Headquarters on Capitol Hill, along with Zone 3 Depot in Congo Town and Zone 8 Depot in ELWA, Paynesville.

According to the Commission, this step is in line with its legal mandate under the LACC Act and Liberia’s obligations under the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC), particularly Article 33, which emphasizes the protection of whistleblowers.

“The installation of these boxes is not just about collecting complaints but about strengthening internal controls, promoting early detection of corruption, and giving citizens a safe and reliable way to participate in governance,” the LACC said in a statement. “We remain committed to creating safe reporting spaces and building public trust in state institutions.”

The anti-graft body stressed that the initiative is being carried out with the full support of the Government of Liberia and represents a key step in promoting accountability across all sectors.
