COP FOR JNB-JKK CONDEMNS MINISTER NYUMALIN’S ALLEGED DISRESPECT OF PRESIDENTIAL APPOINTMENT

MONROVIA – The Congress of Patriots (COP) for JNB-JKK has strongly condemned what it describes as the “illegal, disrespectful and politically motivated” actions of Minister of Internal Affairs Francis S. Nyumalin and his controlled “Board of Registrars” regarding the appointment of comrade F. Alphonso Belleh.

In a press release issued on Saturday, August 30, 2025, signed by Chris B. Sarnor, Secretary General, and approved by Chairman Critical Momo Johnson, the COP asserted that Belleh was appointed by the president on February 20, 2024, as Deputy Director for Administration at the National Identification Registry (NIR). “He is not a mere non-equivalent Manager for Research, Policy and Development Planning,” the release stated.

The COP accused Minister Nyumalin of arrogance and of disrespecting the president’s constitutional rights under Charter VI, Articles 54 and 56, which grant the president authority to nominate, appoint, and commission members of the Executive and Judiciary. The statement described the minister as “power-drunk” and accused him of diverting appointments for personal interests at the expense of young professionals.

“We, ideologues and militants of the firebrand COP for JNB-JKK, categorically and with immediate effect give the power-drunk minister 72 hours to reverse his decision and revert comrade Belleh to the previous position appointed him by the president,” the release said.

The COP warned that failure to comply would lead to escalated action. “Failure on the part of the crooked minister to give comrade Belleh what is due him, we will amalgamate forces to close the office of Minister Nyumalin and also call for his immediate dismissal,” it stated.

The release further appealed to the Executive Mansion for intervention, noting the gravity of the situation and its potential to disrupt operations at both the National Identification Registry and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The COP also expressed appreciation for the Unity Party Youth Congress for supporting its former Secretary General. “We are willing to join forces with the UP Youth Congress in making sure that our well-qualified and competent comrade receives what was given to him by the president,” the release added.
