MONROVIA – The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has intensified its nationwide campaign against illicit drugs, reinforcing its zero-tolerance posture as officers continue to pursue traffickers and illegal distributors across the country.
In its latest operation, a team led by ACP Patrick Kormazu, Deputy Officer-in-Charge for Operations, apprehended a 49-year-old woman identified as Cole on November 3, 2025, at about 9:30 PM. According to the LDEA, the suspect was arrested in a plain-view operation after officers discovered 644 grams of marijuana in her possession, valued at LRD 12,236.
Authorities say the suspect is undergoing a thorough investigation and will be formally charged before being forwarded to court. Under Liberia’s new drug law, possession of narcotics remains a non-bailable offense, a measure the government believes is crucial in deterring drug-related crimes.
The LDEA emphasized that its operations will continue with heightened vigilance as the agency works to reduce the flow of illegal substances into Liberian communities. The agency further encouraged citizens to support ongoing efforts by reporting suspicious drug-related activities through its dedicated hotlines.
The statement was signed by G. Olando Demey, Chief of Public Relations, who assured the public that the LDEA will remain uncompromising in ensuring that offenders face the full weight of the law.
