MONROVIA – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has launched a homicide investigation following the alleged killing and secret burial of a man identified as Isaac Tondo in Clay Ashland, District 17, Montserrado County.
According to preliminary police reports, Tondo was allegedly murdered by a group of gang members reportedly led by a notorious drug dealer known in the community as M.O.G. Authorities say the victim was wrapped in plastic, set ablaze, and later buried in a concealed location on Friday night.
The gruesome discovery was made after officers of the LNP District 17 Detachment, with support from the Police Support Unit (PSU/R6), exhumed the body during a coordinated operation in the area. Law enforcement sources say the exhumation followed credible intelligence linking the victim’s disappearance to criminal activities within the community.
Police further disclosed that a suspect currently in custody has confessed to the crime, admitting that Isaac Tondo was killed by a gang allegedly operating under the leadership of M.O.G, who is widely believed to be involved in illicit drug dealing in the area. Investigators are continuing efforts to identify and apprehend additional suspects connected to the alleged killing.
Authorities have emphasized that the deceased is not the former Liberian national football team player who shares the same name, dispelling circulating rumors and misinformation on social media.
The Liberia National Police has assured the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing and that all individuals found culpable will be brought to justice. Community members in Clay Ashland have expressed fear and outrage over the incident, calling for increased police presence and stronger action against gang-related violence and drug activities in District 17.
The LNP is expected to provide further updates as investigations progress.
