MONROVIA – Today, activist Macclean Renner staged a protest on the grounds of the Capitol Building, urging lawmakers to avoid political games with the yellow machines procured by the Executive. Utilizing the session day at the Capitol Building, Renner displayed a placard with the message: “No Politics On These Yellow Machines!! Our Roads Are Bad!!! Lawmakers Must Support The Executive!!!”
In an interview with legislative reporters, Renner expressed his plea, emphasizing the urgent need for infrastructure development across Liberia’s counties. He highlighted the widespread support for this cause, mentioning protests in other counties such as Lofa, Grand Gedeh, and Bong.
Renner stressed the importance of the yellow machines in addressing Liberia’s deteriorating roads and called for unity among lawmakers, irrespective of political affiliation. He argued that any backchannel methods used by the President in procuring the equipment were necessary and not harmful, drawing parallels to past actions taken for the country’s peace and development.
Presenting a letter to Speaker Fonati Koffa, Renner called for clarity and support from the 55th National Legislature, emphasizing the collective responsibility of all citizens to build a better Liberia.
