MONROVIA – The Alternative National Congress (ANC) has begun a major internal restructuring process aimed at strengthening its readiness for the 2029 General and Presidential Elections, with the appointment of several officials to key leadership positions across the party’s national structure.
The appointments were announced on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, by ANC National Chairman, Cllr. Lafayette E. O. Gould, who said the move marks a deliberate step toward rebuilding and repositioning the party as a disciplined and election-ready political institution.
According to the ANC, the restructuring exercise is designed to enhance organizational efficiency, expand grassroots engagement, and improve internal coordination nationwide as the party prepares for the next electoral cycle.
Chairman Gould stated that the appointments were made in consultation with the ANC’s Political Leader, Mr. Alexander B. Cummings, and the National Executive Committee (NEC), underscoring a collective leadership approach in reshaping the party’s structures.
“The restructuring exercise reflects the ANC’s commitment to building a disciplined, inclusive, and election-ready political institution capable of offering credible leadership to the Liberian people,” Cllr. Gould said in the press release.
As part of the reorganization, Partisan C. Tonia Fahnbulleh was appointed Chair of the Mobilization and Recruitment Committee, with Partisan Umaru Sheriff named as Co-Chair, a move the party says is intended to strengthen membership drive and grassroots outreach.
In the area of communications and public engagement, the ANC appointed Partisan Sensee Kiadii as Director of the Communications and Public Affairs Committee, tasking the office with shaping the party’s messaging and public relations strategy.
The party also named Partisan Rev. Josiah Asher Kennedy as Chair of the Council of Eminent Persons, while Partisan Mandella Geeply was appointed Chair of the Disabled Council, reinforcing the ANC’s emphasis on inclusion within its leadership framework.
Traditional leadership structures were also addressed with the appointment of Partisan Elder Rufus Saydee as Chair of the Council of Chiefs and Elders, alongside the naming of Partisan George Dahn as Chair of the Governing Council.
Further appointments include Partisan Patrick Y. Moore as Chair of Auxiliaries, Partisan Jacob Monyou as Head of Logistics and Procurement, and Partisan Darius Lewis as Deputy Head of Logistics and Transport Director.
In addition, the ANC appointed Partisan Henry Gbalai as Chair of the Grievance and Ethics Committee and Partisan Alex Kpui as Chair of the Internal Audit Committee, positions the party says are critical to accountability and internal discipline.
Chairman Gould called on all newly appointed officials to carry out their responsibilities “with dedication, integrity, and a renewed sense of purpose” as the ANC intensifies efforts to prepare for the 2029 elections.
The ANC said the restructuring process will continue as part of a broader strategy to strengthen party institutions and position itself as a viable alternative in Liberia’s evolving political landscape.
