MONROVIA – The Apostolic Pentecostal Church (APC) International, headquarters at New Water in the Desert Assembly in Brewerville, Montserrado County, has appointed Rev. Miatta R. Sirleaf as the new General Secretary of the organization. Pastor Sirleaf was appointed as a result of the death of the general secretary of the church, Elder James B. Dono, Sr. Elder Dono passed away on January 13, 2023, and was buried on February 3, 2023. He was also the pastor of the New Covenant Apostolic Pentecostal Church based in Gardnersville, Montserrado County.
According to the ACP press statement issued today signed by Bishop Kortu K. Brown, the General Executive Council (GEC) appointed Rev. Miatta R. Sirleaf as the new general secretary of the organization following a called five-hour meeting on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at its headquarters in Brewerville, to review and strengthen the work of the church. Pastor Miatta Sirleaf, an ordained Minister of the Gospel, is the first female to hold that position since the founding of the church in Liberia.
She is also a women’s rights advocate, community mobilizer, agriculture technician and has done about three decades of social work since her appointment as Women and Children director of the Concerned Christian Community (CCC) in April 1992 during the height of the civil war.
The former Hatchery Manager of Baker Homegrown Poultry Inc. based in Paynesville, Montserrado County and Margibi County from 1980 to 1987, has trained in biblical studies, agriculture and rural development in Liberia, Japan, The Philippines, and Kenya, amongst others.
She previously served as general development director of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church, Meal Coordinator of the Asian Rural Institute in Japan in 2011, and executive director of Church Aid Inc. (CAI) for over ten (10) years. She brings a wealth of experience and commitment to her new assignment serving also as one of the residential pastors at New Water in the Desert Assembly in Brewerville.
