BARLEY TOGBA URGES YOUTH IN MOORE TOWN TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF UPCOMING TVET CENTER

MOORE TOWN, LOWER BUCHANAN – The National Program Coordinator of the Grassroots Agency for Social Services (GRASS), Mr. Barley Togba, has called on the youth of Moore Town, Grand Bassa County, to take ownership of a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Center that is set to be constructed in their community.

Speaking on Thursday, September 10, 2025, during the official launch of TVET awareness activities at the Moore Town Community Town Hall, Mr. Togba said the initiative was designed to give young people the skills needed to improve their lives and strengthen the local economy.

“This center is not just a building; it is an opportunity for the youth of Moore Town and surrounding communities to acquire skills that will empower them economically,” Togba stated. “We want you, the young people, to take full ownership, to protect it, and to ensure that it becomes a center of transformation for generations to come.”

Mr. Togba announced that the awareness campaign will continue through December. He explained that the program is being implemented by the United Nations Infrastructure Development Organization (UNIDO) with funding from the European Union (EU), noting that it was designed to enhance employability and economic empowerment among Liberia’s young population. He also praised the EU for its commitment to supporting education and skill development in Liberia.

The launch attracted a cross-section of community members, including elders, women, and local leaders. Representing Zone Six, which encompasses several surrounding communities, Mr. Francis I.E. Davis expressed appreciation to the EU for supporting the project and officially launched the awareness activities in Buchanan.

Youth in attendance welcomed the development, describing the TVET center as a long-awaited opportunity to access vocational training. The community’s youth leader assured GRASS and its partners that young people would protect construction materials and prevent misuse of the project, saying the community was determined to safeguard its success.

Local leaders also pledged their cooperation, committing to encourage youth participation while working collectively to protect the facility. They stressed that the project represented a milestone for the community and vowed to ensure it delivers maximum impact once completed.
