KINJOR—In a show of continued commitment to the communities within its operational areas, Bea Mountain Mining Corporation (BMMC) recently distributed food supplies and cash donations to elders in the Darblo, Mana, and Laar Clans of Gola Konneh District, Grand Cape Mount County. The gesture, carried out over the weekend, included the delivery of 450 bags of rice, 90 tins of vegetable oil, and a cash sum of $11,250.
The initiative, distinct from BMMC’s broader corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, reflects the company’s dedication to supporting vulnerable groups, especially the elderly. Apart from the $450,000 disbursed annually as part of its CSR obligations, BMMC has implemented additional monthly assistance for the most vulnerable members of these communities.
During the presentation of the donations, BMMC’s Community Relations Team emphasized the company’s ongoing commitment to the elders of the three clans. “On behalf of the Board of Directors and Management of Bea Mountain Mining Corporation, we bring you season’s greetings,” a representative stated. “The donation of these food items and cash is part of our regular support to elders, marking the final quarter of our contributions for 2024.”
The team further reiterated the company’s intention to maintain strong ties with community stakeholders, emphasizing its dedication to fostering peaceful coexistence between the company and the surrounding communities. “BMMC will continue to work collaboratively with the district and county to ensure mutual benefit and sustained harmony,” the representative added.
Community leaders and elders expressed their gratitude for the company’s consistent support. Augustine G. Momoh, General Town Chief for Macca Ward, commended BMMC for upholding its commitments under the Memorandum of Understanding signed in May 2022. “We want to thank the Bea Mountain family for always responding to our needs,” Momoh remarked. “We pray for their continued success so that both the company and the community can thrive.”
Mana Clan Chief Gbendi Boima echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the company’s reliability in fulfilling its promises. “We are grateful to BMMC for always honoring its word. We look forward to continued collaboration for the good of both the company and the community,” he said.
Thomas Falajuah, General Town Chief for the Beh-Gondor Zone, also extended his thanks, acknowledging the unyielding support provided by the company. “BMMC’s efforts have made a significant impact on the lives of our elders, and we appreciate their dedication,” Falajuah stated.
The consistent support provided by BMMC has not only alleviated hardships among the elders of Gola Konneh District but has also strengthened the relationship between the company and the communities it serves.
