BILITY, KOON GANG UP AGAINST KOFFA

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – In a surprising turn of events, two prominent Liberian politicians, namely Musa Bility, and Richard Koon, are reportedly engaged in negotiations regarding the coveted position of Speaker of the Liberian House of Representatives.

Richard Koon, a candidate for the Speaker position, has claimed that he has spoken with Musa Bility, a well-known political figure, seeking his support for his bid.

Richard Koon, in an interview, on a local radio yesterday evening announced his intention to contest for the position of Speaker, expressing his willingness to support Musa Bility, should he decide to compete for the deputy Speakership.

He highlighted Musa Bility’s influential support, mentioning that he possesses significant political clout and has assured him of his availability to face scrutiny in relation to an alleged Road funds misappropriation case.

Mr. Richard Koon emphasized the need to prioritize political alliances during challenging times, stating, “When you are at war, you don’t look for witchcraft.”

Acknowledging Bility’s numerical influence, Koon emphasized the importance of working with him, stating, “Bility came with numbers, so we have to work with him.”

Musa, a key player in the ongoing negotiations, has been identified by Richard Koon as having the necessary support to sway the outcome of the Speaker election. Koon recognized the significance of Musa’s backing and stressed the need to engage him in the negotiation process, stating, “Saying Musa has the number, so we need him.”

As the discussions progress, other representatives such as Samuel Kogar, has come into play, adding new dynamics to the negotiations.

Representatives Koger wants to be deputy speaker and has reportedly entered negotiations with Musa Bility, with the aim of securing the support of either one of them.

The negotiations, which appear to be intensifying, have captured the attention of the Liberian political scene. The outcome of these discussions could significantly impact the future leadership structure of the Liberian Legislature. In the wake of all of those talks, one lawmaker told Concord Times, that Fonati Koffa is out to win the post.

Fonati Kofa found himself at the center of attention, as he stands on the precipice of a monumental achievement – the speakership at the House of Representatives of the National Legislature.

The lawmaker said from the outlook of things, he does not see how the deputy speaker will be defeated, “This man is on his way to make history-becoming the first deputy speaker to be elected speaker and the first speaker to come from outside of the ruling party, which is good for good governance.” Source: Concord Times
