MONROVIA – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, received the Letters of Credence from Her Excellency Berenice Owen-Jones, Ambassador-Designate of the Commonwealth of Australia, and His Excellency Normal Ang Sanchez, Ambassador-Designate of the United Mexican States, at the Executive Mansion in Monrovia.
The event comes a day after the President also accepted credentials from the Ambassadors-Designate of Spain, Pakistan, the Philippines, Ghana, and Mali, signaling Liberia’s expanding diplomatic engagements and renewed global partnerships under the Boakai administration.
Ambassador Berenice Owen-Jones, while presenting her credentials, reaffirmed Australia’s interest in strengthening relations with Liberia, particularly in the fields of education, governance, climate resilience, and sustainable development. She emphasized her government’s commitment to supporting Liberia’s development priorities and exploring new avenues for collaboration.
Ambassador Normal Ang Sanchez, representing Mexico, expressed his country’s readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation with Liberia, with a focus on trade, agriculture, and cultural exchange. He described Liberia as an important partner in promoting South-South cooperation and advancing shared development goals between the two nations.
President Boakai, in welcoming both ambassadors, commended the governments of Australia and Mexico for their longstanding friendship and continued support to Liberia. He expressed optimism that their respective missions would strengthen diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to rebranding Liberia’s international image and fostering meaningful partnerships that contribute to national growth and transformation.
The credential presentation ceremony was attended by senior government officials and members of the diplomatic corps, underscoring Liberia’s ongoing efforts to expand its global footprint and attract international cooperation.
