MARYLAND CO., LIBERIA – Residents of Barrobo District#3 are facing severe challenges in transporting commodities and essential supplies following the collapse of a major bridge last Thursday evening due to heavy rainfall. The bridge, located after Dorrobo Freedom along the way to Dorrobo Second Town called Konoso, has been reported as unrepaired for decades, causing distress and disruption to the local community.
Despite its deteriorated state, neither the Ministry of Public Works nor local authorities have taken action to bring relief to the community, leaving residents stranded. The urgency of the situation was underscored recently when a Partner In Health (PIH) ambulance failed to reach a patient in Barrobo Glofaken due to the impassable bridge.
Concerned residents of Barrobo are now urgently calling upon the Liberian government, humanitarian organizations, and individuals to swiftly intervene and address this critical issue. “The lack of access to medical facilities, particularly the inability to transport sick individuals to J.J. Dossen Hospital in Harper, poses a grave risk to public health,” residents further lamented.
The community’s plea for assistance highlights the immediate need for aid and support to restore vital transportation links in the affected area.
