Grand Cape Mount County residents have lauded Bea Mountain Mining Corporation for its recognition by the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) as the highest taxpayer of 2023 and the second-highest taxpayer for 2022. Citizens described the awards as a testament to the company’s dedication to tax compliance and its positive contribution to Liberia’s economy.
Speaking to reporters last week in Cape Mount, many expressed excitement over the company’s achievement. “This is great news for us in Cape Mount. For years, ArcelorMittal of Nimba County dominated this space, but now Bea Mountain has put our county on the map,” said Richealu Kandakai, a resident of Tienie.
Erickson S. Parker, Deputy Youth Chairman of Tawor District, echoed similar sentiments. “I feel proud to see Bea Mountain recognized by the LRA. This company operates in our county, and the resources from Cape Mount are helping Liberia while making Bea Mountain a top taxpayer. This is a win for all of us.” Parker also emphasized the opportunity the company provides for local youth, stating, “For the young people of Tawor District, this is a chance to better their lives.”
Bea Mountain was honored during an LRA awards ceremony held in Monrovia, where Commissioner General Dorbor Jallah praised the company and other awardees for their contributions to Liberia’s economic growth.
However, Parker urged his fellow citizens, especially the youth, to avoid protests that could disrupt the county’s progress. “We must discourage protests. The last protest set us back for six to seven months. It’s time to focus on dialogue and collaboration instead of unrest,” he stated.
Abraham Gborie, another resident, applauded Bea Mountain’s impact on the county. “I’m impressed by this award. Bea Mountain is crucial for Grand Cape Mount County. The opportunities they provide help residents, especially the youth, improve their lives. If you are serious, working with Bea Mountain can enable you to build your home and start a business.”
The recognition of Bea Mountain as a leading taxpayer reflects the company’s role in supporting Liberia’s development and highlights its importance to the people of Grand Cape Mount County.
