CDC ORDERS NIMBA PARTISANS TO REJECT BOAKAI’S CANDIDATE, THREATENS DISCIPLINARY ACTION FOR DEFIANCE

Date:

MONROVIA – The Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has issued a stern directive to its members in Nimba County, ordering absolute rejection of the ruling Unity Party’s candidate and mandating full support for three independent contenders identified by the party. The move, described by the CDC as a binding resolution, was declared Friday, April 11, 2025, in an official statement signed by National Secretary General Jefferson T. Koijee.

Calling the Boakai-led administration a “political disaster” and a “curse on the suffering people of Liberia,” the CDC’s leadership emphasized that any covert or overt endorsement of the regime’s candidate will be regarded as betrayal. Violators, the statement warned, will face “decisive and immediate disciplinary action” in accordance with the party’s constitution.

The CDC commended Reginald Mend, chairman of its Nimba branch, for demonstrating what it called “party discipline” by promptly releasing a formal statement on official letterhead, reinforcing the party’s position. The party’s directive includes support for three independent candidates: Madam Edith Gongloe-Weh, Cllr. Garrison Doldeh Yealue Jr., and Hon. Mark B. Gblinwon.

The CDC’s rhetoric signals a deepening confrontation with the Unity Party government, accusing it of failure and branding it a “murderer regime.” The party’s leadership, citing unity and loyalty as “the lifeblood of our struggle,” said there will be no compromise on discipline and allegiance to the party’s vision.

“The final political redemption of our noble people and beloved motherland is a matter of must,” the statement added, declaring that former President George M. Weah remains the CDC’s hope for national transformation.

As part of ongoing mobilization efforts, the CDC announced that national leaders will travel to Nimba next week to reinforce campaign activities on the ground. Partisans and sympathizers were also urged to attend the launch of the party’s National Dues Payment Campaign at CDC headquarters tomorrow.

The statement concluded with condolences to the families and campaign team of Cllr. Garrison Doldeh Yealue Jr., following the tragic deaths of CDC members Melvin Karl and Rita Dolo in a motorcycle accident. The party hailed their “sacrifice and commitment” to the CDC’s cause, pledging that their memory will be honored.
