MONROVIA – The Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia (CENTAL) on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, partnered with the Independent Information Commission of Liberia to hold a day-long awareness-raising and capacity-building workshop for more than 30 senior executives, including ministers, managers, and directors from key government ministries, agencies, and commissions.
The training aimed to strengthen transparency, accountability, and engagement between state institutions and the public. Participants were encouraged to appoint Public Information Officers (PIOs) to manage information requests, ensure proactive disclosure of institutional activities, and foster improved relationships with citizens and stakeholders.
Officials were also trained on adherence to the Code of Conduct for public servants, the mandates and functions of the Office of the Ombudsman, and the application of anti-corruption measures to enhance institutional performance and accountability. The workshop emphasized practical strategies for state institutions to comply with legal and ethical standards, while promoting citizen participation and trust in government operations.
CENTAL expressed gratitude to the Civil Service Agency for hosting the workshop and acknowledged the participation of all state institutions. The organization also recognized the partnership with the Independent Information Commission and the financial support of the Embassy of Sweden in Monrovia, which contributed to the success of the event under CENTAL’s ongoing National Integrity Building and Anti-Corruption Program.
The workshop reflects Liberia’s commitment to strengthening governance, fostering transparency, and ensuring that public institutions are accountable to the citizens they serve. By equipping senior executives with the tools and knowledge to implement best practices in information management and ethical conduct, CENTAL and its partners hope to enhance the effectiveness of public service and build public trust across government ministries and agencies.
