CHARLYNE BRUMSKINE HAILS LP’S RECONCILIATION, CALLS FOR FORGIVENESS IN POLITICS

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Cllr. Charlyne M. Brumskine has praised the Liberty Party’s successful national convention, describing it as a landmark moment in the party’s journey toward unity and reconciliation. Reflecting on the event in a social media post, she emphasized that the party has overcome deep divisions once thought impossible to resolve.

Brumskine, a staunch member of the opposition Liberty Party, declared that the weekend gathering was a testament to the power of forgiveness and the resilience of the party’s vision. She noted that the Liberty Party’s founding principles, established by her late father, Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine, were built on the concept of national reconciliation. She stressed that the party is now turning the page, leaving behind past conflicts, and embracing a renewed commitment to progress.

She acknowledged that reconciliation is never easy but insisted that it remains one of the most transformative forces in any society. She expressed optimism that the Liberty Party’s unification would serve as a model for national healing, urging political actors to demonstrate leadership by prioritizing the country over personal grievances. She called on all Liberians to embrace forgiveness, not just in politics but in their daily lives, arguing that without genuine reconciliation, the future remains uncertain.

Brumskine’s remarks highlighted a broader message beyond party politics, as she encouraged citizens to value love and forgiveness in a world where divisions often take center stage. She concluded her statement with a personal reflection, stating that life is short, urging people to cherish their relationships and practice the power of forgiveness.

Her statement comes at a critical time for the Liberty Party, which has been plagued by internal strife in recent years. With a newly elected leadership in place, the party now seeks to rebuild its influence and regain the trust of its supporters. Brumskine’s call for reconciliation signals a shift in focus, placing unity at the forefront as the party moves forward in Liberia’s evolving political landscape.
