CLLR. GLORIA SCOTT CONDEMNS LIBERIA’S LEADERSHIP FAILURES, WARNS OF NATIONAL DECAY

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Former Chief Justice Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott has delivered a blistering critique of Liberia’s leadership, warning that the country’s institutions are crumbling under the weight of political selfishness and ethical decline. Speaking at the Liberty Party’s national convention on Saturday, February 8, 2025, Scott urged political figures to abandon partisan games and refocus on genuine service to the people.

Scott, a member of the ruling Unity Party, did not mince words as she called for a return to integrity in governance. She lamented that Liberia’s leaders have lost sight of their responsibilities, failing to provide the guidance needed to secure the future for the next generation. With a sharp indictment of the current political landscape, she declared that a government-in-waiting exists, pressing both the Liberty Party and the ruling administration to put the nation’s interests above personal ambitions.

Expressing deep concern over Liberia’s deteriorating social fabric, Scott painted a grim picture of the state of the country’s foundational institutions. She described the family unit as being in crisis and religious establishments as failing to uphold moral leadership. She warned that the erosion of these pillars, along with a compromised judiciary, threatens the stability of the nation.

Scott accused politicians of exploiting Liberia’s youth for their own gain, denouncing those who manipulate young people to serve political agendas. She cautioned against what she described as a growing trend of using the younger generation as pawns in power struggles, urging leaders to break the cycle of deceit and misdirection.
