MONROVIA – Loquacious talk radio presenter, Henry Pedro Costa, has disclosed that the strained relationship between him and President Joseph N. Boakai (JNB), has been rekindled, with the Liberian leader forgiving him and the pair burying the hatchet following months of election-related feud between them.
At the height of the country’s presidential election in 2023, Costa, a once trusted ally to then candidate JNB fell off with the latter amid claims and counter claims, leading the controversial political commentator to have later defected to the former ruling party, the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) of ex-President George Weah.
Once with the CDC, Costa embarked on a mudslinging campaign against JNB, even predicting the death of the Unity Party political leader, due to what he (Costa) attributed to Boakai’s failure to have undergone an open-heart surgery.
At some point in their political crisis, Costa became abusive to the elderly statesman, and disclosed some very sensitive information regarding personal matters of Boakai.
However, Costa took to Facebook today, disclosing that he and President Boakai have smoked peace pipe, indicating that last evening, he forged a truly unforgettable reunion with the Liberia leader, whom he considers his uncle.
He disclosed that the peace pact, which was made possible through the tireless efforts of those he described as “very special people,” lasted close to two hours, indicating that his reconciliation meeting with President Boakai was a heartfelt and solemn experience that he will cherish forever.
The controversial talk show host recalled sharing stories and laughter with President Boakai during their last evening meeting, and extended gratitude to those who according to him fought for he and the President to reunite.
“Your love, support, and perseverance have brought healing and restoration to a once-cherished relationship,” wrote Costa, who revealed that at one point during their meeting, President Boakai who chimed in a humorous assertion, which though laced with humor, held a deeper truth about the sacrifices made for the sake of love and family.
“As I reflect on this experience, I’m reminded that forgiveness, understanding, and love can conquer even the widest of divides,” he added, noting that he’s grateful for being granted a second chance to reconnect with President Boakai and to strengthen their bond.
