COURT CONVICTS OBI AND OTHERS IN MAJOR DRUG CASE, US$31,625 WORTH OF DRUGS SEIZED

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Criminal Court “C” has handed down a guilty verdict to George Obi, also known as “Original Japan,” and three other defendants in a high-profile drug case. The court found Obi and his co-defendants guilty of involvement in the illegal drug trade, which led to the seizure of a significant quantity of narcotics with an estimated street market value of US$31,625.00, equivalent to over LRD$6 million.

The case, which has garnered widespread attention, saw the conviction of Obi and three others on charges related to the trafficking and possession of illicit drugs. The court’s ruling marks a significant victory for law enforcement in their ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes in Liberia.

While the four defendants were convicted, the remaining individuals involved in the case were acquitted. The court’s decision has been met with mixed reactions, with some applauding the conviction for its efforts to hold perpetrators accountable, while others expressed concern over the acquittals.
