CRIMINAL COURT B FINDS BILL JALLAH GUILTY OF MURDER AND RELATED CHARGES

MONROVIA – The Criminal Court B has found Bill Jallah guilty on all counts in connection with the brutal attack that claimed the life of a young woman identified during the trial as his close friend. The charges against Jallah included murder, attempted murder, and aggravated assault.

The court delivered its final judgment following extensive testimony from medical experts, the prosecution, the defense, and the defendant himself. During the proceedings, a medical witness detailed multiple stab wounds on the victim’s body, some reaching up to six inches in depth, primarily affecting the head, shoulders, and arms. According to the expert, these injuries directly caused the victim’s death.

Taking the stand in his own defense, Jallah expressed deep remorse and admitted that the deceased was a close friend. He told the court that he could not recall the full events of the night due to trauma and emotional breakdown but offered a heartfelt apology to the victim’s family. “I want to use this time to apologize to the Government of Liberia and to the Court. I am deeply sorry, especially to Princess’s mother, Ma-Mad. I am sorry for taking your daughter’s life from you,” Jallah said, visibly emotional. He also extended his apology to the victim’s young son, her brother, and the broader Wesseh and Zoe families, appealing to the court for mercy.

Despite Jallah’s emotional testimony, the prosecution urged the court to reject any plea for leniency, arguing that the attack was premeditated. Prosecutors highlighted that the victim was stabbed seven times, pointing to the deliberate nature of the assault.

In its ruling, the court emphasized that the evidence overwhelmingly supported a guilty verdict. “The defendant’s act of inflicting multiple bodily injuries on the deceased, which led to her untimely death, was clearly premeditated. His own voluntary confession leaves no doubt that his actions violated civilized norms and the laws of the Republic of Liberia,” the court stated.

Judge’s final judgment read: “WHEREFORE AND IN VIEW of the foregoing circumstances and facts, Defendant Bill Jallah is hereby adjudged guilty on all counts of the indictment: Murder, Attempted Murder, and Aggravated Assault.”

The court has ordered the Clerk to coordinate with the Probation Services of the Ministry of Justice to conduct a background investigation on Jallah. This assessment will inform the court’s determination of an appropriate sentence, which will be handed down following completion of the probation report.

The trial, which included Jallah’s testimony as his own first witness on September 10, 2025, highlighted both the defendant’s remorse and the severity of his actions. While he expressed sorrow and apologized to the victim’s family, the court made clear that personal contrition does not negate criminal responsibility.
