MONROVIA – The Dean of Amos C. Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Liberia, Associate Professor Dr. Josephus M. Gray, has launched a new initiative titled “Conversations With the Dean,” aimed at fostering collaboration and enhancing engagement within the college community.
The initiative, held this week, featured a series of separate interactive dialogues between the Dean and various stakeholders, including staff, professors, instructors, and student leaders. The discussions were designed to strengthen relationships, address challenges, and promote a more inclusive and positive working environment across the college.
Over the course of three days, Dr. Gray provided detailed briefings to faculty, staff, and student representatives on key administrative and academic matters. He highlighted ongoing progress, discussed challenges, and shared relevant data on full-time staff and faculty, prospective graduates, as well as the range of courses and sections being offered during the 2025–2026 trisemester academic year.
The Dean also took the opportunity to listen to concerns raised by faculty, staff, and students, offering guidance to support both personal and academic growth. He emphasized the importance of open dialogue in addressing institutional challenges and advancing the college’s mission.
During the engagements, Dr. Gray expressed his appreciation for the collective efforts, achievements, and contributions of faculty and students. He encouraged continued collaboration and constructive conversations to improve the overall academic environment.
All of the sessions were held at the Thelma E. Duncan Sawyer Faculty Lounge on the Fendall Campus. The initiative was described by participants as both unique and impactful, setting a new standard for leadership engagement within the college.
