MARYLAND CO., LIBERIA – A large quantity of expired goods belonging to the Ritco Distillery Company was confiscated by joint security forces following a search warrant issued by the Pleebo Magistrate Court. The operation, conducted on Thursday morning, June 20, involved the Liberia National Police, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency, the Liberia Immigration Services, and other agencies.
In separate remarks, Pleebo City Mayor Hon. Larry G. Gekor and EPA Coordinator Samuel Nagbe stated that the confiscated items included 2,768 pieces of Fanta soft drinks (equivalent to 173 sacks), 784 pieces of Power Plate energy drinks (equivalent to 49 sacks), 36 pieces of Best Choice drinks (equivalent to 2 sacks), 114 bags of cornmeal, 37 bags of mixed Super Garie and Milk, and 5 cups of condensed milk.
Cooperating with the Ministry of Commerce, EPA Coordinator Nagbe assured the public that the seizure and arrest of these materials would serve as a deterrent to others selling expired goods. The arrested items are currently under the custody of the Pleebo Magistrate Court, while the management of Ritco Distillery Company faces an investigation at the Harper Magistrate Court.
Meanwhile, Ritco Distillery Company has resumed normal operations in the district. The circumstances surrounding the release of the company’s management from the Harper Magistrate Court remain unclear.
