FORMER LDEA OFFICIAL AND BROTHER FACE $3 MILLION LIBEL LAWSUIT

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Civil Law Court has summoned Hassan Fadiga, former Deputy Director for Operations at the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA), and his twin brother, Hussein Fadiga, to answer a $3 million libel lawsuit filed by former LDEA Director General Abraham Kromah. The legal battle is set to unfold under the authority of Resident Judge Kennedy Peabody.

Kromah, in his complaint, claims the Fadigas deliberately tarnished his reputation, causing him significant financial and professional harm. He is seeking $2 million in special damages, citing contract losses allegedly caused by false accusations made against him.

The former LDEA director alleges that Hassan Fadiga failed in his role at the agency, accusing him of mishandling illicit drug cases and disregarding operational protocols. He asserts that Hassan introduced a separate command structure within the institution, violating established procedures and undermining the leadership hierarchy.

In addition to his allegations against Hassan, Kromah contends that Hussein Fadiga used his platform as a public commentator to spread misinformation. He claims Hussein falsely accused him of having close ties to a Nigerian drug trafficker known as “Japan” and made these accusations on widely followed talk shows, including Spoon Talk.

Kromah insists that Japan’s arrest and prosecution were orchestrated under his direct supervision long before Hassan Fadiga took up his position at the LDEA. To support his claims, he intends to present evidence proving that Hassan was not yet an agency official when Japan was apprehended.

As the court prepares to hear the case, Kromah is demanding an additional $1 million in damages, arguing that the Fadigas’ actions not only harmed his career but also severely impacted his character. The upcoming proceedings are expected to determine whether the accusations leveled against him were indeed baseless and whether the defendants will be held accountable for their statements.
