IMMIGRATION BOSS WARNED TO BE MINDFUL OF ZARGO’S BROTHER

MONROVIA – Several employees at the Liberia Immigration Service have reportedly cautioned Commissioner Elijah F. Rufus to be mindful of individuals within his inner circle, including Henry Zargo, brother of former LIS boss Steve Zargo.

A number of them who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the new  boss needs to be mindful before he  falls in the same trap as his former boss.

“One of such persons who is ill advising him at the center is the brother of former immigration boss, Steve Zargo. Mr. Henry Zargo; is said to have been at the center of an internal investigation at the office, but himself is not off the hook.

“This man who is at the head of the investigation is himself not clean. He acts like a clean person and makes others to look ugly.

Mr. Zargo was allegedly involved into some illegal activities in Buchanan and other places, but for fear of him being exposed, he carried out propaganda to the new boss  which led to his appointment to   head  the investigation team.

“We want for commissioner to be very careful or else he will  be dumped soon. He is not happy for the removal of his brother from the place and is taking instruction from him at times indirectly.

Some  employees alleged that Henry’s action led to the deaths of Colonel Sylvester Mahmie and major David Forkpa. This can not be confirmed.

They alleged that he threatened and harassed  the two ex-service men and led to their death.

During the funeral of Mahmie, sometime ago, Mr. Zargo was present, but due to indirect talks directed at him, he left, some female employees alleged.

Not only that, but also some  workers said, he is presently implicated in an ongoing case of his special assistant, but is being allowed by the commissioner general Elijah F. Rufus to work with the investigative team; something which they said is wrong; he should exclude himself from the investigation panel.”

Recently, a number of cases have been concluded and actions taken against some junior and senior officers. Some were dismissed and some suspended.

But they said Zargo himself needs to be investigated but the Commissioner has decided to place his investigation on  hold; something which they said is totally wrong.
