LIBERIA – The National Campaign Management of Julius Kullie Kanubah for the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) Presidency calls for the setting up of an Independent Panel of Experts to thoroughly audit the 2022 Full Membership List.
In a press release issued today, Raymond K. Zarbay, Chairman of the National Campaign Management Of Julius Kanubah For PUL Presidency says, in a formal complaint to the PUL Election and Inauguration Committee Chairperson, Atty. Wede Kekuleh, Team Kanubah cites several irregularities in the current Membership List.
According to Zarbay, the Team names the inclusion of many non-journalists and unqualified media persons on the PUL Membership list, including a suspect who was recently arrested by the Liberia National Police and sent to court for impersonating a Journalist.
Additionally that the National Campaign Management of Julius Kanubah recommends that the Panel of Experts that would review the contentious PUL Membership List must be comprised of credible media and civil society actors to ensure transparency in the November Election.
He notes in the press release that the Kanubah Campaign Management also states that the PUL 2022 Final Membership Listing published on 15 October had a total of one-thousand-three hundred and seventy-four (1,374) Full Members.
Zarbay, however, noted while reviewing the said list, the Union’s Election and Inauguration & Congress Committees through a circular announced an upsurge in the Full Membership list from 1,374 to 1,410.
The additional 36 Full Members contradicts the earlier pronouncement that the 15 October Full Membership Listing was the Final, the release mentioned.
The Campaign Management of Julius Kanubah concludes by reminding the PUL Election Committee that the Union must benefit from a credible election under her stewardship.
Zarbay concluded that the Team assures its fullest cooperation, looking forward to an independent review and audit of this disputed Full Membership Listing.
