MONROVIA – Embattled Speaker of the House of Representatives Cllr. Jonathan Fonati Koffa has denied allegations of receiving classified information from Alex D. Dolewon, an employee of the National Security Agency (NSA) recently arrested for leaking sensitive intelligence.

The NSA announced on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, that Dolewon, 40, had been taken into custody and charged with multiple offenses, including unlawful disclosure of confidential information, mishandling sensitive data, recklessly endangering others, and criminal coercion. The charges stem from a complaint filed by the NSA, which accused Dolewon of jeopardizing national security by unlawfully sharing classified materials.

According to NSA investigators, Dolewon sent classified details via WhatsApp to his uncle, Speaker Koffa. Among the retrieved messages, Dolewon allegedly referred to NSA Deputy Director for Operations Steven B. Dolo as a “dirty workman,” advising Koffa to avoid associating with him. While Dolewon admitted to sharing Dolo’s phone number, he denied providing any further requested materials.

Speaker Koffa, however, firmly denied the allegations. In a statement, he rebuked claims of ever receiving intelligence from Dolewon, describing the accusations as unfounded. “I know this fellow. He is a runner for my sister in America. He has never given me information from the NSA, and I defy them to show any text between me and him,” Koffa asserted.

The NSA’s internal investigation revealed that Dolewon, assigned to the agency’s Caldwell headquarters in Montserrado County, had a history of leaking sensitive intelligence. Recovered messages from his confiscated devices allegedly show that he shared classified information about senior NSA officials with unauthorized individuals, creating significant security risks.

Dolewon reportedly expressed regret for his actions, appealing to NSA leadership, including Director Stephen Dolo, for leniency. He claimed his actions were driven by frustration over alleged mistreatment by Deputy Director Dolo, who was appointed in January 2024. Investigators, however, dismissed his claims as speculative, stating that his true intent was to undermine Dolo’s reputation and authority.

The NSA emphasized that Dolewon’s actions directly violated its strict protocols prohibiting unauthorized dissemination of intelligence. Officials stated that his conduct posed a severe threat to the safety and movements of senior personnel, as well as the agency’s overall operations.
