NIMBA COUNTY, LIBERIA -Representative Samuel G. Kogar has received the endorsement of the Unity Party (UP) Alliance as its official candidate in the upcoming senatorial by-election in Nimba County. The decision, announced Sunday, April 13, 2025, followed weeks of internal consultations among executives, stakeholders, and grassroots supporters of the Alliance.
The endorsement was confirmed in a press release signed by Lansana P. Fofana, Assistant Secretary for Press and Media Outreach of the Unity Party, declaring full support for Kogar’s candidacy and calling on all partisans and citizens of Nimba County to rally behind him at the polls.
Kogar, who currently serves in the House of Representatives, is being promoted by the Alliance as a lawmaker with a solid record of legislative advocacy for his constituents. The Unity Party and its Alliance partners argue that his elevation to the Liberian Senate would bring renewed focus to development, inclusiveness, and community-driven leadership in the county.
The press release highlighted Kogar’s commitment to policies aimed at improving the lives of ordinary Liberians, citing his consistent efforts to prioritize unity, growth, and the well-being of his people. The Alliance said his leadership would ensure that the voices of the majority stakeholders in Nimba are elevated at the national level.
The Unity Party Alliance also used the announcement to instruct its local chapters in Nimba to mobilize resources and logistics to ensure victory for Kogar. At the same time, it appealed to all political actors in the county to maintain peace and order throughout the campaign, emphasizing that a peaceful election is necessary for the continued advancement of Nimba and Liberia as a whole.
