The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) has taken to the public to clarify that it has not released any official information regarding the details of its ongoing investigations. In a formal statement, the Commission expressed concern over the spread of unfounded claims circulating across various platforms, particularly social media, warning the public to treat such reports as baseless and misleading.
The LACC called for a responsible approach to information dissemination, urging citizens to refrain from sharing unverified details. The Commission highlighted that spreading such information could undermine the investigative process and confuse the public. As part of its commitment to transparency, the LACC assured the public that any official updates will be communicated through proper channels, adhering strictly to legal guidelines.
Under the provisions of section 10.9 of the LACC Act of 2022, the Commission is restricted from releasing any preliminary findings or specifics about cases still under investigation. It reiterated that information would only be disclosed to the public after the formal indictment of individuals by a grand jury.
Acknowledging the public’s desire for updates, the Commission emphasized its dedication to conducting thorough and impartial investigations. It reassured citizens that while updates may not be immediate, the LACC is working diligently to ensure that its work is done with integrity and transparency.
