MONROVIA – Montserrado County 8th District defeated Rep, Acarous Moses Gray of the governing Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), has conceded defeat, and has congratulated Representative-elect Prince Toles of the main opposition Unity Party (UP).
In a concession note placed online, Gray indicated that as a true believer in Liberia’s democracy, he was seizing the moment to congratulate the winner of the recently held legislative election for Montserrado County’s 8th District, Mr. Prince Toles.
Gray called on Montserrado 8th District’s constituents, especially his supporters to accord Toles the same respect they accorded him while he served as their lawmaker in the House of Representatives.
“I urge you to work with him peacefully in the interest of our District,” Gray noted.
He expressed gratitude to God for grace and mercy, and to constituents of the District, for allowing him to serve two six-year terms as their lawmaker in the House of Reps.
“I relished the opportunity given me to advocate for you and help bring development to our dear District. There’s no task more gratifying than serving my own people,” stated Gray, who thanked the Montserrado 8th District constituents.
He also extended what he termed as profound thanks and appreciation, to the standard bearer of the CDC, President George Weah, whom he referred to as “family”.
“You have been my source of strength and guidance. I owe you a debt of gratitude. I wouldn’t have reached this far without your support,” Gray referring to President Weah, stated in his concession note.
As announced by the National Elections Commission (NEC) in its progressive tally reports of results from the country’s just-ended presidential and legislative elections, Gray a long-serving member of the House of Representatives, was booted out by Toles, who accumulated 9,249 votes, accounting for 32.82%, as opposed to Gray, who garnered 9,165 votes, representing 32.52%.
