LIBERIA COMMERCIAL COURT ORDERS CLOSURE OF NATIONAL ELECTIONS COMMISSION OVER US$171,105 DEBT

MONROVIA – The Commercial Court of Liberia has issued a Writ of Execution against the National Elections Commission (NEC) for failing to pay M-TOSH Prints Media Inc. a judgment debt totaling US$171,105.00. The enforcement of the writ led to the closure of NEC’s National Headquarters in Sinkor after the Commission failed to settle its financial obligations to the vendor.

The writ, signed by Associate Judge Chan-Chan A. Paegar, authorizes Acting Sheriff Emmanuel Morris to seize and expose for sale NEC’s land, goods, and chattels to recover the debt. Should the movable assets prove insufficient, the Court has instructed the seizure of NEC’s real property.

The lawsuit was filed by M-TOSH Prints Media Inc., represented by Mr. Varney A. Fahnbulleh, over unpaid contractual obligations. Despite a prior judgment delivered by the Court on June 3, 2025, NEC has reportedly failed to comply with the payment order.

In its directive, the Court also mandated the physical appearance of NEC Executive Chairperson Mrs. Davidetta Brown Lansanah and other authorized commissioners before Associate Judge Paegar if the Commission does not settle the amount. Furthermore, the Court instructed that once assets are sold or payments recovered, the proceeds should be paid to the plaintiff, with a portion withheld for court costs.
