MONROVIA – The Anti-Robbery Unit of the Liberia National Police has arrested and formally charged two men accused of posing as soldiers of the Armed Forces of Liberia while carrying out criminal activities in the capital.
The suspects, identified as Shadrach Dingwall and Philip W. D.B. Randy, were apprehended on February 15, 2026, at Bandersville Junction. According to a press release issued by the LNP, the two men were dressed in full military camouflage and falsely presented themselves as members of the AFL at the time of their arrest.
Police disclosed that the suspects allegedly attacked a man identified as Frank Roberts, pepper-sprayed him, and fled with his Bajaj motorbike. “The suspects were arrested following a complaint that they pepper-sprayed the victim and made away with his motorbike while impersonating military personnel,” the LNP stated in its release.
Further investigations reportedly uncovered that the accused had been moving through several communities, allegedly intimidating and harassing residents under the guise of being AFL officers.
The LNP confirmed that both men have been charged with robbery, theft of property, impersonating an official, and criminal conspiracy. Authorities added that the suspects have been forwarded to court for prosecution in line with Liberian law.
The police reiterated their commitment to cracking down on individuals who exploit security uniforms to commit crimes and urged members of the public to report suspicious activities.
The statement was signed by DCP Sam K. Collins, Chief of Press and Public Affairs of the LNP.
