LIBERIAN HOUSE SPEAKER’S HOME TORCHED, REMAINS UNDETERRED BY THREATS

Date:

MONROVIA – Liberia’s House Speaker, Jonathan Fonati Koffa, held a news conference today to address the recent incident at his residence in Monrovia, where his home was engulfed in flames. Despite the distressing situation, Koffa expressed his resilience and reiterated his unwavering commitment to serving the people of Liberia.

During the news conference, Speaker Koffa dismissed rumors suggesting a plotted attempt to remove him from his position as the Speaker of the House. He emphasized that he does not feel threatened, especially since the war crimes court resolution was issued by both houses of the Liberian legislature. He remains focused on the legislature’s goals and the betterment of Liberia.

The investigation into the torching of Speaker Koffa’s home is currently underway. The entire structure was razed to the ground, and authorities are working diligently to determine the cause of the fire. In this difficult time, messages of condolences and support have been pouring in for Speaker Koffa from various sources.

In response to the incident, Koffa conveyed his gratitude for the messages of support but made it clear that such threats would not deter him from his duties. He affirmed his dedication to the people of Liberia and vowed to press forward with the legislature’s agenda.

Speaker Koffa’s resilience in the face of adversity serves as an example of his determination to fulfill the mandate entrusted to him. The domestic and international communities will be closely monitoring the investigation into this incident, and Liberia’s government is expected to take appropriate measures to ensure the safety and security of its officials.

As Liberia looks toward the future, Speaker Jonathan Fonati Koffa remains resolute in his pursuit of a prosperous and stable country, undeterred by attempts to undermine his role or those aimed at causing harm to him personally.
