LIBERIAN JOURNALIST CALLS FOR INVESTIGATION INTO FIRE AT HOUSE SPEAKER’S HOME

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Liberian journalist Togba Tuwrey has called for a thorough investigation into the fire that gutted the home of Liberian House Speaker Cllr. Fonati Koffa. Tuwrey emphasized the importance of determining the cause of the fire, stating, “Where there is smoke, there is fire. We must investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident at the Speaker’s residence.”

This incident comes at a significant time, as a delegation from the United States House of Representatives Democracy Partnership is scheduled to convene with the Liberian House Speaker on Monday. The visit marks the first time in several years that such a delegation has engaged with the Liberian government, highlighting the importance of this meeting.

Tuwrey also highlighted the need to review a recent statement from Monserrado District 10, which called for the removal of Speaker Koffa. He expressed concerns that the fire incident may be part of a larger strategy to target the Speaker. “I believe the plan has been exposed, but we should expect other strategies to be employed,” Tuwrey added.

With these factors at play, the journalist urged authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the fire incident.

The call for an investigation aims to shed light on the cause of the fire and ensure that any potential foul play or negligence is uncovered. It is crucial to maintain transparency and uphold the principles of justice in such cases, especially considering the significance of the upcoming meeting between the US delegation and the Liberian House Speaker.

As the investigation unfolds, the Liberian public eagerly awaits answers to the questions surrounding the fire at the House Speaker’s residence.
