CAPITOL HILL, MONROVIA – The Liberian Senate Committee on Ways, Means, Finance and Budget has unveiled the schedule for the Fiscal Year 2026 Draft National Budget hearings, focusing on the revenue component of the budget. The hearings are set to commence on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Senate conference room.
The initial day will feature presentations from key revenue-generating entities, including the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), National Port Authority (NPA), Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC), and the Liberia Maritime Authority. These agencies are tasked with presenting their revenue forecasts, operational frameworks, and strategies before the Senate Committee chaired by Senator Prince K. Moye of Bong County.
On Tuesday, November 25, the committee will hear from the Liberia Telecommunication Authority (LTA), National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NAFAA), National Road Fund (NRF), and Forestry Development Authority (FDA). These presentations aim to provide lawmakers with insight into the projected contributions of critical sectors to the national revenue.
Day three, Wednesday, November 26, will include the Liberia Petroleum Regulatory Authority (LPRA), the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL), the Center for National Documents & Records (CNDRA), and the National Lottery Authority (NLA). Each agency is expected to defend its revenue estimates and explain strategies to ensure compliance and collection efficiency.
Thursday, November 27, will feature presentations from the Ministry of Labor (MOL), Ministry of Transport (MOT), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), and Ministry of Public Works (MPW). The committee will examine the institutional readiness of these ministries to mobilize resources aligned with national development goals.
The final day, Friday, November 28, will see appearances from the Liberia Immigration Services (LIS), Liberia National Police (LNP), National Fire Service (NFS), Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Ministry of Commerce and Industry/Liberia Business Registry (LBR), and Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MPT). This session will provide lawmakers with a comprehensive overview of revenue streams and operational plans across essential government institutions.
The committee emphasized that the hearings are designed to assess the realism, achievability, and macroeconomic alignment of the projected revenue streams. Additionally, the sessions aim to evaluate institutional performance, strengthen transparency, and ensure fiscal discipline in line with Liberia’s national development priorities.
