LIBERIA’S FOREIGN MINISTER SETS UP COMMITTEE TO LOOK INTO FOREIGN MISSIONS CONCERNS

Date:

MONROVIA – Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, has taken a proactive step by announcing the establishment of a Special Committee. This committee has been assigned the crucial task of addressing concerns raised by Foreign Missions regarding the placement of Foreign Service Officers between July 2023 and February 2024.

The main goal of this Special Committee is to conduct a thorough review of the placement process of these Officers. It aims to provide actionable recommendations to ensure compliance with all relevant rules and regulations outlined in the Foreign Service Manual. Additionally, the committee will focus on implementing preventive measures to prevent similar issues from arising in the future.

Minister Beysolow Nyanti emphasized the importance of the Foreign Service Officers in representing the nation globally. She highlighted that the establishment of the Special Committee reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the diplomatic corps. It is expected that this initiative will lead to continuous improvements in the operations of the foreign service.

The Special Committee comprises experienced diplomats and representatives from relevant agencies, with Amb. George W. Wallace, Jr. serving as the Chairperson and Amb. Jarjar M. Kamara as the Co-Chairperson. The committee also includes Ambassadors Dr. Brahima D. Kaba and Ibrahim Nyei, alongside members from the Civil Service Agency, Internal Audit, and pertinent departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This strategic move demonstrates a proactive approach by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address challenges and enhance the overall functioning of the foreign service operations.
